Since like a million people want to know and I've never seen a tutorial of this before here it goes... NOTE!!! This is assuming you know the basics of modeling using nicks tutorial, editing the mesh and importing it. It does not teach those basics, just the cutting!!! First off, you import the model you want to have edited, in this case the gondor soldier: Delete all unnessesary items (bones, boundingbox, forged blades) or hide them if you please: Convert it into editable mesh, and select all the verticles for the sword: Right click on one of the verticles, and hit Detach: Then delete the sword, and hide the model, import the one with the weapon you want (in this case gimli): delete or hide all unnessesary items: now in this model (some others do it but not all) the weapon is already separate, then its just a matter of moving it, and deleting the rest of the model: then unhide the older model, and just stick the axe in his hand, you do not need to attach it at all: and there you go, you just put gimli's axe onto gondor soldier. Holy Light - Thursday May 29, 2008 - 20:52 mmmm I'm trying to understand how this works so the weapons are already binded to the right sword, and if the weapon is not seperate can you just detatch it and bind it? Guess Who - Thursday September 6, 2007 - 2:33 they are from IP they are mappers not modellers. Puppeteer - Wednesday September 5, 2007 - 12:32 wow great tutorial thanks dude! but what's the difference between editable mesh and editable poly? and patch for that matter? Grizzlez - Tuesday July 31, 2007 - 16:43 Erm, whenever i try to import something it says its not a valid type, anyone know why? JaYk - Monday July 30, 2007 - 6:30 Thanks, it's a good tutorial, really useful. |
