This is a very easy way to make a map for BFME 1 with falling snow. I've attached the map.ini file you'll need as well as a snowflake TGA file that I made that looks pretty good in-game. As an extra bonus, I've also included a map art file that I made for a generic snowy map.
This originally came from BFME2 but with a few slight changes I got it all working for BFME1. Note that the more snow you have (ie SnowSpacing = smaller value) the denser the snow will be and the more lag your map will have. The above seems to work well for my map. Also, this will work fine with Freezing Rain, Cloud break, and Darkness. Freezing rain when activated makes it look like sleet or well freezing rain. Cloud break also looks fine and appears that the clouds have broken and the sun is shining through the holes (snow still falls but that's realistic. I've seen it happen plenty of times in Chicago and New York). Finally the Darkness spell just makes it seem like the clouds got really thick and the map gets darker. If you use this in your mod, please credit me. Thanks! -GothmogtheOrc Links / Downloads

Alternatively, use ExCloud02.tga (double check this) which I use in mine. _Haldir_ (Team Chamber Member) - Thursday September 24, 2009 - 0:09 I'm sorry for being a bit of a newb, but does the tga file go in the map folder along with the map.ini? If it does, then all I'm seeing at the moment is falling pink squares. |
