This month's interview was with Nazgul I talked to him about the future and history of SEE.
This interview is a little late due to my computer problems.

In case you don't know Nazgul is the leader of The Special Extended Edition mod AKA SEE.
You can check out SEE's website http://see.the3rdage.net/

Radspakr:How did you start off in modding?

Quote
Nazgul:
By accident
I was playing Marks Full GamePlay Mod for BFME2
and I wanted to make "some" adjustments... so I contacted him, and got permission
A few minor things grew, and after a while it sorta slowly grew into a new mod
I remember that the very first thing I did was to increase lifetime for the summoned Balrog, lol
I learned coding from Mark and from tutorials on T3A, and slowly I began to understand the codes to a level of what I'd call intermediate. I can (could?) code somewhat ok/good, but I could never reach the level of high end coding like Sûlherokkh and Robnkarla, etc. But it was enough to code Marks mod into something better, and that's what eventually attracted team members to improve the mod even further.

Radspakr:
Do you think SEE has evolved much from your original plans and do you like where the mod is going?

Quote
Nazgul:
It sure has INDEED. Initially I wanted to do TWO things and TWO things only...
1) Improve what Mark did... to highten and maximize the gameplay towards "reality"... Meaning, removing units as primary attackers of structures and increasing the need for siege units. Making structures stronger, increasing build times, adjusting balance, etc
2) Making BFME2 look more like the movies, so I reskinned and/or accuired skins from other skinners that would hold as high quality as possible, to resemble the movies. Basically every single unit in the game is reskinned in SEE
But at this point, Sûl joined, and the mod took a WHOLE new direction towards a GIANT project... and that's both good, and bad.

Radspakr:
I'm sure the followers of SEE have been wondering, what is happening with SEE?,is it still alive?

Quote
Nazgul:
It's not alive atm, and it's not dead... It's idle, and basically waiting for progress of such sort that it can spark motivation and joy back into modding SEE
The problem is that ever since Sul joined, I became TOTALLY dependant on HIM or someone EQUAL to him, coding wise
So for the time being, I guess the future of SEE kinda depends on what you have accomplished Rad

Radspakr:What part of SEE are you most proud of?

Quote
Nazgul:
Hard to say, but I guess the overall effect that makes most players say "holy hell, I'll NEVER play the vanilla game again"...
And the fact that I feel a little bit like we have honoured the fantastic work Jackson did with the wonderful legacy that professor Tolkien left us :p

Radspakr:What is the worst part of making a mod for you?

Quote
Nazgul:
1) Finding TIME to do it
Reaching and KEEPING the needed level of skill...
3) Keeping all new and added things to the same high standards
4) Keeping team members that I've become dependant on

Radspakr:If there's one thing you could change about T3A what would it be?

Quote
Nazgul:
Lol... well... I haven't been that active lately, so I really don't know atm. But I guess it would be some graphical changes. Not that happy with the dark colors, and also, having some kind of unified structures for all the sub forums so some forums won't be so messy and unorganized

Radspakr:Thanks Nazgul for finding time for this
Any comments for the people?

Nazgul:
Hehe yeah, keep the faith... I try to I haven't given up on SEE yet... We might have some new things to show soon (Flameguard is working on Harad models again)
