Now we are going to paint the vertices of the model to control which areas we want to fade and which areas should remain bright. To do this follow these steps: - Make sure the GLOW object is selected. - On the Modifiers palette on the right-hand side, select "Vertex Paint" - In the parameters Click the Black on the Color Palette - Click the VertCol (To see what you are painting) - Click the "Paint Vertex Colors" button. (The one supressed in the screen). - Last thing is to click on all the edges of the model, painting them black. When you are done you will see something like this: When exported, this will soften all of the edges of your glow fx which enhances the look of your glow. Now, this is just one example of how vertex painting can be used on your models. There are many more that I'm sure you can come up with. The same functionality should be available in 3ds Max as well as gmax/renx. Enjoy! Robert J. Nertea (Team Chamber Member) - Wednesday April 9, 2008 - 23:58 I suppose it shouldn't be that surprising as Renegade did support vertex painting, but it still suprrised me :P. Rob38 (Team Chamber Member) - Sunday April 6, 2008 - 20:47 This make my life a whole lot easier as I hate using hex editor :) |
