Introduction: The BFME series are fun games to mod, but if a modder does not have 3DS Max he is forced to learn how to model in Gmax rather than simply sticking to the 3D package that they already have and are familiar with. (i.e Maya, XSI, Blender, Lightwave...) This tutorial should give you the freedom to model and UV map for BFME in any 3D package that can import and export the OBJ format. Gmax and Renx are free, stripped down versions of 3DS Max, and as such they are designed not to be able to directly import or export to any 3D formats that Discreet did not intend, like OBJ. Fortunately with a couple of tools, this can be worked around fairly easily. What you need: Renx importobj.ms xzzy_obj_tool.ms GrabListener.exe Get these tools from the Links/Downloads section of this article and install them as instructed. Then proceed to the next page of this tutorial. Links / Downloads
