Now, the home stretch. Delete the instance side of the sword, this was only for a visual. Now, mirror the blade again, but this time select Clone. Now, click the original blade portion. Right click on it, hit Attach, and select the other side. The two should fuse together into one. Now, select ALL the vertices, and click Weld Selected. Congratulations! A finished weapon model! This was my result: Keep in mind that I skimped out on a few details to keep the tutorial short(er). When "cutting" the spline, it is best to even cut the lesser details, so they stand out better. As you can see, the downward protruding point looks weird. This is because I didn't cut it, and it was left very flat. Same with the very end of the handle. It is a practice practice practice situation, but I feel that this method works very well for creating weapons. And it is not overly complicated. Good luck in the future modelling weapons. :) --Kwen CommentsDisplay order: Newest first modboy451 - Friday January 28, 2011 - 14:22 THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!! Radspakr Wolfbane (Team Chamber Member) - Wednesday March 3, 2010 - 2:43 Nice tutorial,I had forgotten about spline modelling it's been so long since I've done any actual modelling :p Kwen (Team Chamber Member) - Tuesday March 2, 2010 - 22:46 Please do. And if you see anything I may have been not very clear about, or mistakes, let me know. Rob38 (Team Chamber Member) - Tuesday March 2, 2010 - 21:50 Very intriguing. Never thought of this modeling method. Will have to try it out. :) |
